Here are my reasons why I think Lamu is a holy Island. There are no cars, no traffic congestion, no pollution only boats and donkeys 😀 I really enjoyed the fresh air from the ocean after a very long time.Another reason is that you don't need shoes in lamu, if you still doubt this little secret then just carry your sandals.People in Lamu know they are standing on a holy ground (remember the story of Moses with the burning bush 😀) so they don't need shoes. My third reason is that you don't need to set your alarm, the holy recitations from the muezzin in the mosques will wake you up.My final reason is the 'ukarimu' from the Lamu people.Every person I met in Lamu has some kindness spirit in them, the way they talk to you. They always ask "umeamkaje?" "Safari ilikuaje?" "Safari njema" "Mola akubariki".If you are tired of living with people who don't appreciate your existence it's about time you relocated to this island. There is a lot more to say about lamu. The boat captains, the rides, the sunrise, the sunset, the birds, the beach, the fishing but let me save that for another day. Most important lesson I learnt is that Good people still exist on this earth, appreciate them because the are hard to come by.
